5/17/2019 0 Comments Sunset meditationWith all the things i have going on these days i have been feeling myself begin to spiral. Like you know that moment you lose that sense of control. Its not a good place to be at all. My thoughts just kept going i wasnt able to relax or focus. Ofcourse i had to explore new ways to ground myself. What has proven to have an impact is Sunset Meditation. When i say it takes you to such a pleasant place of calmness. It quiets my mind. It grounds me. It has such a gentle way of bringing me to the present moment. I love how all my stress, worries, and anxiety just dissolves. The zone it can take you to nothing outside of that moment exists. Every evenning I go outside with my children to catch the sunset. I even made it apart of their bedtime routine. And they love it! First, we sit outside and connect with nature as we wait fot the sunset to begin. We watch the clouds, the birds, the wind blowing through the trees. We listen to all the different sounds. We close our eyes and feel the shifts of wind. Next, We state things that we are grateful for and positive things we enjoyed that day. We also say 1 thing or habit we would like to let go of or change. Then, once the sunset starts we let go and release it. Visualizing our concerns, fears, mistakes, anything we dont want to hold on to being swept away along with the sun. From this point we are free to just simply be in the present. We enjoy the transitions in the sky. From the sun to the clouds ,the beautiful colors splashed perfectly until they slowly fade away. Allowing the moon to illuminate in the darkness. Witnessing the moon taking center stage and the phases slowly changing each night certainly sets the tone for the rest of the night. That transition into being more relaxed helps encourage better nights rest. It even contributes to the start of the next day leaving you feeling more refreshed ,restored and ready for what the day brings. Practicing sunset mediation is a wonderful way to care for your mind, body and spirit while you simply enjoy the view. Trt it out and you wont regret it!

11/10/2017 0 Comments Sarbri Says :Untested loyalty is nothing but an illusion." -iamsarbri I grew up in the church. It was like a second home to me, if not the first. But of course that would be automatic as a preacher's daughter. Every Saturday night we would go to bed early, to wake up early Sunday morning. Waking up to gospel music as well the television screen with perfect view of the pastor preaching. Putting on dresses and appropriate attire to go to church. Hair fixed, Breakfast and out the door. Church going wasn't just a once a week thing for us. We went to church maybe 3 times or more a week. So to make it simple. Church is a big portion of my roots, the memories that I look back on from my childhood growing up and is a part of who I am in my adulthood. Looking around though in this day and time, attendance in the church community have been lower than what they use to be. But the real question is why ? Why is it that in my generation, we cant get to church? Why don't we make it there most Sundays? Our elders are genuinely wanting to know. Its obvious that we aren't kids anymore and that it is up to us to continue to be apart of the church community. This is my generation. The millennium that I am apart of. So as a 22 years young woman I have been faced with past and current struggles, mindsets, experiences and hindering things. I have also witnessed them all over. Watching Friends , family and perfect strangers on social media. I have sat and pondered on this question at focus for about a week. The conclusion I came to is that this is more than just a simple explanation. This is about all of us. This is an honest attempt at a start to fixing the problem. Because we all know the start to any resolution is acknowledging there is a problem. Then being completely transparent of your perception of things. So I'm gonna share my perspective as to the reasons why. And I hope that we can re-evaluate and have a good ending result. 1)Different interpretations of what church is
When you gain knowledge on something. As an individual you take what you read or hear and interpret it in your way. The common used definition for church is a building used for worship. The word church in the Bible comes from the Greek word ecclesia, which means a called out company or assembly. So basically people gather regardless of the location and worship together with fellow believers to grow in faith. In the bible we see the word church used in more than one way. There is the body of Christ, which is a local assembly or group of believers.(1 Corinthians 1:2 ,2 Corinthians 1:1) Secondly, the body of an individual believer. ( 1 Corinthians 15:9 , Galatians 1:13) Lastly, It is mentioned as the universal group of all believers that have trusted God through all ages. (Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 5:23-27) So with that knowledge it is believed and constantly stated that "we are the church" not the building. So some make choices to grow in other ways. Bible study and worship at home and other places. But that's not the main reason we don't go to church. I personally believe that for most that reason is given as force of habit. 2)False Prophets We are in a time when you don't know who is the real deal and who is faking it. Like come on now even Satan himself knows the whole bible. So sadly we need more. Unfortunately, majority just not are sure of what is real and what isn't. The prophecy that is given has warned us that there will be a line up of people proclaiming to be holy and be the complete opposite. We don't want to be lead in the wrong direction. 3)Not feeling the spirit Whether it be the worship or the words being spoken or both. Sometimes we are not feeling the holy ghost. The spirit needs to be in all those areas to touch someone's heart. When you move someone's spirit. You got there attention. When you feel that presence all over you, it is undeniable. When you feel the lord reaching out to you through every word, its impossible to shake. We need that. Everyone needs that. Trust me that tug on your heart that either warms your soul or wakes your spirit up is real. If we don't feel that in the church. If I don't feel that in the church, I would say something is off! Something is missing. 4)Guilt / Feeling Unwelcome Some feel like they want to fix things and be in better standing with God before entering. Some are filled with guilt of the way they live. Some feel embarrassed and like they aren't holy enough to attend. Some feel if they do it will be made public of what they are dealing with. Some feel like they wont be accepted. The church and people of God have been associated a lot with negativity and judgement. We are living in a time where people are coming out and more sin is being embraced all over the world. These lost souls feel they can get more love from the world than in a church. And the church should still welcome all the sinners to come and receive the love of God. But that doesn't happen a lot. So it can be easy to just expect the worst. We need to all feel the love regardless of the mistakes we make and how we live. Church shouldn't be a invitation only thing. Everyone should be welcome to attend without the pressure from man to change. It takes God to change someone's heart and mind. No one is above anyone. We are all Gods children. 5)Lost Identity At our age we are still technically considered to be in the area where we are finding our purpose, our place, what we believe and who we are. In that venture everything becomes at question including our faith. Some of us stray and then return to our roots. Others don't. 6)Respecting The House Of God There are some individuals that are content with where they are in life. Or think they are. They're not ready to give up sin. They aren't ready to change. So out of respect for God an the place that is there to honor and praise him. They choose to not be lukewarm. They feel they are too deep in so why change. Sad and unfortunate but true. The truth is You have to decide where you stand an some decide early on that they cant make that change and live for God. The mindset being that no one should play with God. Your either in or out. No in-betweens. 7)The Sabbath Its believed that Saturday is the correct day to have church because of the Sabbath. But in this society church happens on Sundays which doesn't go with the original Sabbath day. 8) Bad reputation of the Church Some don't give it a chance or another because of the reputation or their personal experiences. Hypocrisy. Judgement of others. People who faithfully attend church but have evil spirits and ill intent behind their actions. Prices being put on tithing. People making a mockery inside the church. People gossiping. Fake smiles. The act as if you have it all together. Sweeping things under the rug that shouldn't be. Seeing people in church that will curse and mention Gods name in the same sentence. Just things that shouldn't be happening or going on with people of God in the house of God. In a community of people that are believers. As a young generation we need to see better. When we see these things we don't want to be apart of that kind of stuff. We need it to be well understood that we listen to your actions so much more than to your words. What you say means nothing unless we see you being a model of what you teach. The people of the church don't have to be perfect. Just be a genuine lover of God an his people an have that guide your actions. Live unto Gods will. 9) CHURCH ISNT THE SAME Things have changed since we were younger. Are belief in God remains the same. But the belief in his "people of today" doesn't feel the same. We cant take church seriously because we don't see the people of the church taking it seriously. They don't preach in such a way that you get the epiphany. It feels watered down. Diluted messages. Where you have to read between the lines or you just feel like everything you doing in life is ok. Like you have nothing to be held accountable for. We don't get that "Wow That is speaking to me." When a preacher is giving a message . God is to use him as a vessel to speak to his people. We don't feel that magnitude in the church anymore. God isn't present when the youth is being prayed over and being counseled to. He should be. Because if he was we would feel his presence. We would feel home. Like we can let go and release our struggles. But instead we are left with the same baggage we came in with. Some preachers are in the biggest scandals that would shock a lot of people. Its becoming a joke. Its losing its value of what it is placed here to be for us to be. How can you expect us to take it seriously if the people held in the highest positions of the church don't. How do you expect to win the souls of us young people, if your not being the light in the darkness. We see others with different beliefs that are diligent in their practices, that show the willfulness to stop where ever they are and pray to their God. They live and die for their God. The people of our church save their prayers for food or Sundays only. And we cant even simply start at least successfully living for our God. 10) Unanswered questions/ Same Repeated Sermons Over the years of seeing this can make someone start questioning what is happening. Some come to church looking for questions to be answered, and leave feeling they haven't been answered. Because in church we hear the same scheduled sermons being spoken. But the bible is filled with many messages but we only hear a limited amount. So some seek the truth and more information in alternative ways. Because we are lead to feel we cant get effective teachings. 11) Lack of understanding Some get lost in the teachings and simply don't know what is going on. When the message is being taught in church it continue flows out but its not a setting where you can raise your hand an ask a question as soon as you get overwhelmed with information. A lot don't admit it but they're lost and just don't understand what's being taught. Some people might need more elaboration than others. But its such a wide amount of people being spoken to at once that some people slip through cracks and give up. 12) Our elders failure to acknowledge we have grown/ Improper ministry People of the church don't see us as we are now. In some cases, they see us and see the child in us still. But we are grown now. We see things. We have contributions to the world as well as the church. But sometime we have the constant pressure from the people that watched us grow or that are simply elders to us. Or we are expected to just do as we are told without further acknowledgement. They rather handle us as children. When we are not. We are all different. And we are all reached in different ways. The way we minister to others have effects on a lot. Some churches don't offer a place in the church for our ages to grow in Christ. Some that aren't thriving in the church feel like they don't belong. Our generation does need a place in the church so we can carry on when our elders are gone. 13) Don't have time or don't make the time Some people work during the time frames that church is happening. Some are sleeping in because they did so much the night before. Either way we all no this is no excuse but I'm still mentioning this because it is still what's happening when we not in a church building. Some people are spending their time stressing about money and other things. There is a decent amount of us that want to go. Desire to go. Plan to go. But something always gets in the way. Or derails the plan. Or maybe its just the lack of motivation and drive to get up, get dressed, and go to church. Some of us get so rapped up in everything else going on in our lives that we let it hinder us. So what are we going to do about this? What steps are we gonna take as a community to better this crisis we are in? Its up to you. I hope that these reasons where read with an open mind and heart to hear from a young adult. Take them in and really think about it. I gave the honest truth in hopes to a brief pause and then a step in the right direction. #therearenoapologiesforbeingwhoiam #iamsarbri #iamtruth "A queen is authentic, not because she says so,just because she is. A queen doesnt have to say nothing. Everybody can see it, and feel it too"
I finally got the sequel to the coldest winter ever. And from the first page once again, i am into it. 💯 5/13/2017 0 Comments Dear Mama, #HappyMothersDayI remember the day! That it hit me.. that my Mother has been on my team all along. That she has loved me unconditionally continuously. That she has always been there through it all. Even when it seemed like something was impossible, she made it happen. Even when she didn't fully understand or agree with every decision I made, she was there. Even if she was mad at me , she would never hold back or sugar coat her thoughts but she still was there for me. Me and my mother haven't always seen eye to eye. We have been through things as all families do , but what matters to me the most is that we grown from those things. I love my mother through all the ups and downs. I am thankful that I can call my mommy everyday. Just simply to say "HI MOMMY WHAT YOU DOING" even if I know the answer. Because I call just to do it lol. because I like to hear my mothers voice. I love to know that I still have more time with her. I understand that not everyone still has that special woman in their life that is mommy. I'm gonna cherish mines, every chance I get. As we all should. Because I want to have these moments to carry me on, even when my mother is gone. I want to absorb all the love, the nurturing, the lessons, the hugs, the laughs, the strength, the advice. I feel like I have honestly reached a mile stone earlier than what would be expected my most. I'm honestly in a place even as a wife and especially as a mother myself, where I recognize that I still need her. I still learn from her as a go. My mother is outspoken, strong, beautiful, caring, smart, fearless, unapologetically herself. My mother is capable of any and everything she puts her mind to out of the strength of the heart. And how deeply she loves. Which I have been blessed to use as an inspiration of what woman and mother I am. She is everything that creates an amazing woman. Dear Mama, I thank God for placing me inside of your womb!
Children don't ask to be here. They sure don't get to choose who their parents are either. However, I am glad I am your daughter. We haven't always seen eye to eye in everything, but all those things have allowed us to strengthen our bond. You still through it all was there, Regardless of the situation. I cant imagine having anyone else to call my mommy. I seen you at your highs and lows but it remains that you inspire me. I pray that I can be half the mother to my children, that you are to me and my siblings. You have such a huge heart that out shines everything. You always have been a woman of your word. And you never have ill intent in your actions. I strive to be like you in everything that is wonderful about you. I keep the willingness to learn from your experiences that haven't been perfect. At the end of it all you are perfect just the way you are. You are always my mother! I love you always. I would wish you a happy Mothers Day , but there really isn't a need. Every day is Mothers Day! Every moment counts! Happy Mothers Day to you mommy. Thank you for setting the tone. Thank you for leading me by how you carry yourself. Thank you for just being present in my world! Sincerely, Your baby girl #iamsarbri #happymothersday #Everydayismothersday This book was amazing ! I absolutely loved it! I read this book in less than a week. I took it everywhere with me (Literally) because I was so eager to know what was gonna happen next. I'm talking about The Coldest Winter Ever written by Sister Souljah. I don't know what took me so long to hop on board with her books, but I'm glad I came across it. This is the story of a young wealthy girl by the name of Winter Santiaga that lives in the Projects of Brooklyn but most certainly didn't want for anything ever. Her father is the high respected drug kingpin of their hood that decides to move the family to Long Island. I quickly was pulled in from the second I opened this book to start reading. This young girl was telling her story. The way she was so authentic with her words, the way she was so unapologetic of who she was caught my attention. The narrative was so vivid and I never got bored. No time was wasted and even the minor things stood out. It was filled with events that pull you into the world and reality of these characters. Winter is Materialistic, spoiled, lost and very unaware of the fact because she was brought up in this way of living. She is constantly trying to stay on top. When a sudden down fall in her as well as her families life occurs. Her father gets locked up and her family loses everything including each other. Her street smarts that she claims to have is put to the test. She fights constantly to regain the control of what was happening around her. She was willing to use and manipulate any an everybody to get what she wanted. But yet she had a sympathetic story happening to where you feel for her . You want her to make it out of the situation. Or you at least develop the curiosity as to if she will make it out on top of things in the end or not. She is the girl that had to always have the finer things even when her lifestyle wasn't nearly as close to the image she showed to people on the outside looking in. She doesn't see anything wrong with her actions, the steps she is taking, her priorities in life . She doesn't see anything wrong with the things her father has done to get him incarcerated. She doesn't even see her own downfall until the very end. Even though things are steadily falling apart around her. It also shows how the cycle of destruction is repeating itself through her younger sister. Being misguided by the glitz and glam, money, so called respect and so much more associated with the lifestyle of drug dealing. Every character in this book and every event was so real. Sister Souljah even allowed the readers to get to know her by making herself a character in the book. I loved the idea of presenting different perspectives of all the characters including herself. I would recommend this book to everybody. Because there are so many different roles offered to connect with In this book. This is also so many peoples story in a way. It opened my eyes so much that anything written by this author I would recommend. I am in the process of getting all her books in my possession to read more! If you haven't read it ! read it! If you haven't heard of it. Now you know!
#iamsarbri #iamabookworm lol #iamafanofthisbook 4/15/2017 0 Comments #StopbeingpettyI simply don't understand why some these grown folks be into some petty stuff. When you reach a certain age, you should view things differently. When you establish a mature mindset , you will move differently. When you have something actually going for yourself and when you develop responsibilities as well priorities in life. You simply have no time for the foolishness. When you realize you are above the stupidity, you step right over it. You dont dive in those irrelevant situations, You swerve that type of stuff. When your time is valueble. You use it wisely. You dont waste it. We all know we cant get back time. So why waste it away. Spend your time doing things that benefit you and make you happy. Not putting your energy towards things that have nothing to offer you. Be an example to these people that dont know how to act by being mindful of how you act. It begins and ends with you.

3/24/2017 0 Comments Bias actions at checkoutI never would've thought I would be faced with something of this magnitude while in checkout! It was my turn in the check out line at Publix. I was greeted with a hello by a Caucasian cashier and as she is ringing my groceries I noticed something. She instructed the bagger to not put a couple of my items in the bag. Her words was " don't put that in the bag, I don't think that is covered." I'm just thinking to myself what is she trying to imply, being I that haven't even taken my wallet out of my purse yet? So how is she to know what is covered or not? Of course, it was the assumption that I was planning to use a form of assistance. Though I did have a wic card in my wallet it wasn't in sight when that first upfront thought of me was made just because of how I looked. My hair was pulled back. I had on my jeans an a decent top ..? lol No it couldn't have been my attire. So all that's left is my complexion. Though I am not ashamed of that fact I used the wic card for a portion of the groceries. It was an additional assumption that was confirmation to me how bias this lady was. She not only asked the bagger not to bag my groceries, because she thought it wasn't covered by the assistance that she assumed I have. But also that if the assistance didn't cover it, I wouldn't be able to pay the difference with my own money. Which is not okay at all. So it was not until I actually purchased everything, that she gave the bagger the okay to place all of my groceries in the bag and into my cart. Just because I'm a young black woman doesn't mean that you can automatically assume I'm on some for of assistance. It most definitely doesn't mean that I don't have my own funds to fit my own bill! Just because I still use wic to get the basics for my child doesn't mean that I deserved that treatment as I was purchasing my groceries. How do you react when you experience treatment like this? How I do I handle something that I knew still existed in the world we live in , but for the first time experienced it? How is that suppose to make me feel knowing that I have a little girl that is gonna be expose to a world like this? what do I tell her? What was I to do get mad and make a scene? In my head I wanted to but I had my baby girl and husband waiting on me at home. So I left cause I felt she wasn't worth my time. Because I was not gonna be played for the angry black woman making a scene in a store with people waiting to be assisted. But still the situation was playing in my head and it was disgusting it was not sitting well with me at all. So while still handling my family duties I still succeeded in dealing with the situation. I called the Publix store and requested to speak with the customer service manager. She was appalled to hear what kind of judgement her employee is placing on the customers. And she assured me that she was specifically going to deal with that employee an that she will discuss the matter with all employees in the store. This really happens everyday. Like you know its people that are like that but its never a thought of what you are gonna do when you come face to face with that. I hope that cashier will learn from this incident, because not everyone is gonna be as pleasant about situations like this. Everyone should be aware of things like this big and small ,because it is never an excuse for that to happen. I thank God for building me into the women I am though. I still have my dignity. I know I am so much more than what that cashier tried to limit me to. I am Sarbri ! I am on the rise to something bigger than what I can possibly imagine, and no one can tell me different! #wehavemoreworktodo #iamsarbri #iamwhoisayiam
3/19/2017 1 Comment Preparation DayGoodmorning everyone!! It is Sunday which also what i'd like to call preparation day! Its the first day of the week an also the day prior to monday when alot goes on for everyone. Sundays are when church going happens. Although in my home worship and exalting Gods name is a daily essential to get through everyday. Its still good in it self to participate in fellowship. Also in our home I deep clean the house, do laundry, etc. My husband and I take this day to prep for the rest of the week in everyway possible. Spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically. No ones ever completely ready for the business days to start up. So I believe that everyone should have a preparation day so monday wont hit you as hard. So make use of today to make sure your house is clean. Make sure your laundry is out the way. And that everything needed for the days ahead are prepped in advance. Because of this day i am able to have things ready to go for my family. So try it out and take advantage of today. And dont forget to end it off with a beautiful sunday dinner. Enjoy your family. With all the chaos on workdays its so much more important to spend that quality time with loved ones. So indulge in every moment!
